Step into a world where chocolate smells like childhood memories and every room feels designed to make you smile. Located inside the historic Wedel factory complex on Warsaw’s Praga side, the E.Wedel Chocolate Factory is far more than a museum — it is an interactive journey through the history of one of Poland’s most iconic brands.

The story began in 1851, when Karol Wedel opened a small confectionery shop in Warsaw. Over the decades, the family business became a symbol of Polish chocolate culture, creating classics like Ptasie Mleczko, Torcik Wedlowski and Pawełek bars. Before World War II, Jan Wedel transformed the company into one of Europe’s most modern chocolate producers, with shops operating even in Paris and London.

Chocolate, history & pure fun

The modern museum opened in 2024 inside a rebuilt cocoa silo complex overlooking Jeziorko Kamionkowskie. From the outside, the building already looks playful — its façade was designed to resemble giant chocolate cubes. Inside, the experience becomes fully multisensory: warm cocoa aromas, interactive installations, tasting stations and moving production lines follow visitors through six different floors.

One of the best parts is that almost everything here invites interaction. You can design your own Ptasie Mleczko box, smell roasted cocoa beans, test chocolate-making machines and watch real confectionery production through giant glass windows. Instead of quietly reading information boards, visitors become part of the process from the very beginning.

Workshops, tours & sweet experiences

The guided tours last around 90 minutes and are designed for both adults and children. Along the route, visitors discover how chocolate is produced “from bean to bar,” learn the history of the Wedel family and taste different forms of chocolate along the way.

Workshops are one of the biggest attractions. Guests can decorate Torcik Wedlowski cakes, create pralines, make custom chocolate bars and experiment with confectionery techniques in a relaxed atmosphere. There are also seasonal events, evening tours for adults and educational programs for schools.

The experience finishes on the rooftop terrace with panoramic views over Kamionek, Park Skaryszewski and the National Stadium — not exactly what most people expect after a chocolate tour.
