Roots and design

Jordan Park was established in 1889 through the vision of Dr. Henryk Jordan, a physician and pioneer of youth sport and recreation in Poland. It was created on grounds used for the 1887 National Industrial and Agricultural Exhibition, transforming them into a landscaped garden inspired by English landscape parks.

The initial design included winding paths, flowerbeds, lawns, and areas for exercise, reflecting Jordan’s belief that outdoor play and movement were essential for healthy childhood and community life. Today, the park covers around 20–22 hectares and remains one of Kraków’s most popular green spaces.
